IPL Mid-Season Window Explained

THE 2020 IPL will be the first to feature a mid-season transfer, which began today.

Chris Gayle is one of the more high-profile available players.

Here, we explain the rules behind the window.

The window opens as all teams have now played seven games.

As per The Times of India, the only type of transfer permitted will be loans.

This means that the player will return to his club for the 2021 season unless another agreement is made between the franchise.

All players, Indian or overseas, capped or uncapped are eligible to make moves.

The two franchises must agree on the terms of the transfer.

The only pre-requisite is the player cannot have played more than two games this season.

The players eligible for a move, at the time of writing, are as follows:

Chennai Super Kings: KM Asif, Raturaj Gaikwad, Josh Hazelwood, Narayan Jagadeesan, R Sai Kishore, Monu Kumar, Mitchell Santner, Karn Sharma, Imran Tahir, Shardul Thakur.
